      <image:title>About Us - Twin Fish House History</image:title>
<image:caption>The actual museum is a replica of the twin fish house that stood near where the present day Bluefin Bay restaurant stands, in Tofte, Minnesota. It was the second fish house built in this location. The first log fishhouse was completely destroyed by a fierce storm in 1905, and the twin fish house was built on the same site later that year. The original twin fish house contained two fishing operations, Andrew and John Tofte's and Hans Englesen's. A wall separated the two halves of the fish house but a large opening was left so that a child could slip through or a conversation could be held. In the upstairs rooms, safe from the rain and snow, old nets were dried on net reels and new nets were seamed during slow periods. The second floor had a porch away from the lake that was used to oil and dry corks. In good weather, rope and cord were hung over the porch railings to dry.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Get Involved - Get Involved</image:title>
<image:caption>Membership This is an exciting, yet challenging, time in the history of the North Shore Commercial Fishing Museum. We are proud to see a tremendous growth in the Museum's programming and exhibit division guaranteeing the public an exceptional and educational experience. Yet at the same time, government funding and grants that support museum operations are being cut back. That is why your support of the Tofte Historical Society, the Museum's governing and fiscal body, is now more important than ever. There are a number of ways you can support the continuing development of the North Shore Commercial Fishing Museum. Membership Dues in the Tofte Historical Society help finance ongoing operational costs ranging from heating bills to archival materials. Revenues from Life Memberships — supporters who are listed in the Museum's publicly displayed scrapbook — become part of a permanent endowment fund, providing ongoing support in the years ahead. Honor a loved one by giving the gift of a Memorial in their name — Memorials are permanently displayed on a brass plated cork display in the Museum. Give a Gift Membership to someone who is passionate about the North Shore. Contributions As a non-profit organization, donations are vital to quality of our programs. You can help by donating to our Pioneer Club Endowment Fund. All donations are tax-deductible. And, of course, other important assistance includes contributions of historical artifacts or memorabilia and genealogical information about commercial fishing families for display in the Museum, helping with office and museum jobs as volunteers.</image:caption>
